Larches were aflame in the alpenglow of Heather Meadow. For a few weeks in October, the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains become dotted with glowing golden larch trees. Larches are rare conifer trees with deciduous needles that fade from green to yellow and shed in autumn.
