On a trip to Mount Hood, my husband and I stopped at Cannon Beach and walked along the sand that was covered in perfectly reflective saltwater like a mirror stretching for miles. Our dog ran in circles, herding us towards Haystack rock, then disappearing in the fog. The slow tide created an optical illusion on the beach’s surface, allowing the pastel sky to dance with the salt water below as it reflected and disappeared with each wave.
