In the North Cascades, in late Autumn, we wandered through Heather Meadow along a creek that supplied a network of alpine lakes. The shrubs dotted the cliffside with bursts of crimson, marigold, and clementine. Around the curves, we could spot Mount Baker and neighboring peaks blushed by the rising sun.
